Hugh Grant and his wife Anna Eberstein have donated £20,000 to a man dubbed “Britain's kindest plumber”.
Burnley-based plumber James Anderson set up Depher, which stands for Disabled and Elderly, Plumbing and Heating Emergency Response, in 2017 and has been helping vulnerable customers free of charge ever since.
However his kindness has not gone unnoticed as the 55-year-old revealed that Grant, 63, and his wife, 40, donated a staggering £20,000 as a “wonderful Christmas gift”.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday, Anderson wrote: “After speaking privately to @HackedOffHugh and Anna Grant.
“I have permission to share their wonderful #Christmas gift to @Depheruk.”
Adding: “This wonderful and humbling donation of £20,000.00 will give hope to thousands of people, families and children, especially with the #CostOfLivingCrisis.

After sharing the post, Anderson was met with an outpouring of support from followers, who applauded the Hollywood star’s “hugely generous” donation.
A follower commented: “An incredibly generous donation that will do so much good in your hands. The difference this will make to people's lives.”
“Two wonderful human beings. Such a generous gift. This will go a long way to helping others,” another wrote. A third added: “Fantastic news and what a marvellous gesture by them”.
A fourth shared: "Two wonderful Human beings. Such a generous gift. This will go a long way to helping others."
Although it's not the first time the pair have donated to Depher, who have helped more than a half a million people in the UK. Anderson told ITV that their latest support brings the total they've donated to the community based company over the years to £75,000.
News of their donation comes as the couple, who have three children together, attended Chanel's star-studded Metiers d'Art show in Manchester.
The pair were spotted alongside Tilda Swinton, Jenna Coleman and Kate Moss at the glitzy fashion event which took place in the City's historic Thomas Street.
