Hugh Dallas appointed to significant Premier League role

Former Scottish top-flight referee Hugh Dallas has been appointed to a significant role in the English Premier League.

Dallas took charge of his last match north of the border back in 2005.

Now 67 years of age, he has been appointed as PGMOL's new Select Group manager.

Dallas will work closely with a team of coaches to deliver training to elite referees, as well as focusing on performance management and technical development.

He will also work closely with the Premier League and play a significant role in engaging with clubs.

PGMOL are responsible for officiating matches in England's top flight. Chief Refereeing Officer Howard Webb heads up a crop of 162 referees and 350 assistant referees.

Dallas takes up his new role, having previously served as the Scottish FA's Referee Development Officer before a recent stint with the Turkish Football Federation.

He was also a referee supervisor at the recent UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.
