Huge queues for Jollibee opening in Glasgow as fans desperate to try Chickenjoy

Huge queues formed in Glasgow city centre this morning for the opening of Jollibee's first fast food spot in the city.

Hundreds of eager fans desperate to try the Filipino fried-chicken chain started queuing on Sauchiehall Street at 6:30am this morning for a taste of their famous Chickenjoy family recipe hand-breaded fried chicken.

Jollibee, which is known for its 'joyous mashup of Western comfort food served with a tropical twist' has taken over the spot vacated by Burger King at the corner of Renfield Street.

And such was the expectation for the opening - one of 50 coming to cities across Europe over the next four years as part of a massive multi-million expansion - that punters were queued back past Starbucks at the corner of West Nile Street.

So what's the hype? Well Jollibee's menu is rammed with crowd favourites such as 'Jolly Spaghetti', prepared with its signature sweet-style sauce, loaded with chunky slices of beef sausage, and generously topped with cheese.

Or there's the Jollibee Chicken Sandwich, which is served with a hefty chicken fillet, marinated in a special recipe, breaded to crunch-perfection, and then topped with a delicious dressing.

Chicken tenders, an asian rice bowl, hot dogs and fries and loaded fries are also favourites on the menu at the chain, which operates more than 1,200 restaurants around the world.

We can't wait to head along ourselves to give it a bash.
