Thousands of Aer Lingus passengers are facing 'huge queues' at Dublin Airport today after the airline reported that it is experiencing IT issues.
The issues began at 9am and there are currently large queues of people lined up outside and inside Terminal 2, as the airline attempts to manually check in passengers for their flights. Aer Lingus said as this is taking more time than usual and is likely to result in flight delays, although so far no flights have been cancelled.
The Aer Lingus website is also currently down for a "scheduled update." A video shared with Dublin Live shows passengers lined up outside Terminal 2, with buses now dropping passengers at Terminal 1 in a bid to ease the queues.
Meanwhile, Dublin Airport Authority has said that it is staggering entry to Terminal 2 to manage the numbers inside. They said that "it is an internal IT issue for Aer Lingus" and that no other airline is experiencing these technical difficulties.
Earlier, furious Aer Lingus passengers took to social media over the issues at check-in. One passenger asked the airline, "What is happening at departures in T2? Massive queues outside terminal and not moving."
A spokesman for Aer Lingus told Dublin Live: “We are currently having connection issues with our cloud based reservation and operational systems impacting on check-in and boarding processes. This may cause some delay and disruption to our services over the coming hours.
"We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused in this period. We are working to resolve the connection issues as soon as possible.”
