Large parts of Irvine are tonight in darkness after a major power cut hit the town.
Engineers have carried out an emergency shutdown of the grid, with power expected to be out for around two hours.
It follows grounded overhead lines which have led to large parts of the KA11 postcode being affected.
A statement on the SP Energy Network website said: "It has been necessary for our engineers to carry out an emergency shutdown at 8:15pm due to grounded overhead lines and this may affect the supply to your property.
"We will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 10:15pm.
"We will update this message if this information changes. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
