'Huge' - Newcastle United supporters react as Tottenham Hotspur lose at home to Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur missed out on the chance to move level on points with Newcastle United after losing 3-2 at home to AFC Bournemouth.

Newcastle's 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa in the early kick-off presented Tottenham with the prime opportunity to cut the gap in the race for the top four.

However, Tottenham slumped to defeat as Bournemouth climbed six points clear of danger. Son opened the scoring for Tottenham when he converted Ivan Perisic's low cross from close range in the 14th minute.

Bournemouth mounted a comeback with Matias Vina equalising seven minutes before the break, and Dominic Solanke firing them into the lead six minutes after the interval.

Ex-Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma equalised for Spurs in the 88th minute, but Dango Outtara scored his first Premier League goal to earn the Cherries all three points in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Newcastle retain their three-point cushion and also boast a game in hand over Tottenham, who they face at St James' Park next weekend.

Here is how Newcastle supporters have been reacting to Tottenham's defeat on social media...

@The_Her0n Feel better after that Tottenham result.

@NufcInsight Still 3 clear of Tottenham and still a game in hand. We've got 8 to go. Whilst today was poor, let's hope it was just a blip and we can get it over the line.

@metschtoonarmy Tottenham losing at home is huge.

@msz_nufc Tottenham Hotspur. Standard Spursy behaviour.

@Lee_1892 More worried about Brighton finishing above us than Tottenham. Villa have some difficult games.

@GregNUFC__ Typical Tottenham.

@Kieran_NUFC21 No VAR to help Tottenham this time?

@JCWonka Watching Tottenham pulling a Tottenham eases the pain of Newcastle's loss today.

@MagpieGroupNUFC We matched Tottenham's result. A successful weekend.

@karl_nufc909 Tottenham doing a proper Spurs thing and bottling after we got beat.
