A huge new ‘super salon’ is expected to open in Merseyside later this year.
Frances Williams, 36, from Maghull launched her brand Skin Survival, one of Liverpool’s first dedicated laser clinics and beauty salons, back in 2006. Now, 16 years later, she’s on her way to launching her new ‘super salon’.
The mum-of-one currently runs Skin Survival on Honey’s Green Lane in West Derby, offering full body laser hair removal including legs, underarm, bikini and facial laser, laser tattoo removal, laser facial treatments and advanced skin treatments.

Fran has faced challenges from Covid and to rising costs but is now preparing to open her new, bigger salon, with a clinical environment, later this year on Eaton Road in West Derby. Fran studied Beauty Level 2 and 3, before going on to get her qualification to teach beauty and nails, Laser Level 4 and Level 5 Tattoo Removal.
With seven members of staff, Skin Survival has become well known for offering high quality laser hair removal treatments with courses of six and eight sessions being most popular for Fran’s clientele.
Fran opened her first salon called The Place For Beauty where she could offer nail treatments as they were her ‘first passion”. She said: “I’d sit at my nail desk for 10-12 hours a day and I absolutely loved it! It’s been such a journey so far. I started off with a much smaller salon and grew to having five members of staff in just three years who focussed on nails and hair but in 2013, we moved to a bigger salon where I then had 12 employees.
“In 2016, I began offering laser hair removal treatments with one machine. Our bookings were through the roof and we now have five machines and seven members of staff that offer laser hair removal and laser skin treatments.
“Laser hair removal is revolutionary. It allows anyone to get rid of leg, underarm, bikini or facial hair for good after a course, with the exception of yearly top ups. Over the last 16 years, I’ve seen trends change and crazes come and go, but each year we’ve always got busier as more and more people want to invest in being hair-free long term.”
Work is already underway on the new salon, which will be based across three floors, with luxury treatment rooms and a training school for VTCT laser and skin rejuvenation students. The salon is expected to open later this year, though an official date has not been confirmed.
