Bristol Hippodrome has put on a stellar series of shows so far for 2022 and they're promising the same for 2023 too. It was recently announced that much loved family classic Shrek the musical would be coming to Bristol and now another firm favourite is confirmed too.
Producers, Michael Harrison and David Ian have announced that the award-winning international smash hit musical The Bodyguard will tour the UK and Ireland. The show will open at Glasgow King’s Theatre on Saturday 28 January 2023 and finishing in Bristol on July 22.
The night promises fun for all the family, being a show that's guaranteed to get you off your feet. The classic romantic thriller will bring irresistible classics including Queen of the Night, Dance with Somebody and one of the biggest hit songs of all time – I Will Always Love You.

Based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated Warner Bros. movie starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, The Boydguard, directed by Thea Sharrock with book by Oscar winning Alex Dinelaris, had its world premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End and was nominated for four Olivier Awards.
It gave a sell-out 18 month UK and Ireland tour, before the show returned to the West End at the Dominion Theatre ahead of a second sell out tour of the UK and Ireland in 2018/19. To date, The bodyguard has played to over 3.6 million people in 15 countries and 45 US cities and they'll be bringing the same magic to Bristol.
The original film featured legends including Whitney Houston, Kevin Costner and Bill Cobbs and whilst the stars of next years show are yet to be announced, the 2019 tour featured huge star Alexandra Burke.
The show will be in Bristol from Monday 17 July – Saturday 22 July 2023 at the Bristol Hippodrome with tickets going on sale from 14 June 2022.
