A huge haul of herbal cannabis worth an estimated €2.36 million has been seized in Dublin.
It was found during a search under warrant of a commercial premises in the north of the county today.
The joint, intelligence-led operation involved both Revenue and gardai.
A Spanish national, aged in his 50s,has been arrested in connection with the investigation.
A Revenue spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
They said: “Today (17/11/2022), as part of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 118kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €2.36 million, following the search of a commercial premises, under warrant, in the North Dublin area.
“The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB).
“A Spanish national in his 50s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Coolock Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing.
“This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
