Huge drive-thru kebab shop seeks to open in UK first which will rival likes of KFC

A huge drive-thru kebab restaurant is on the cards for Greater Manchester which could rival the likes of McDonald's and KFC.

Plans have been submitted for a two-storey restaurant in Bolton town centre to serve the classic late night feast to both indoor diners and passing drivers.

Documents suggest converting an empty premises into the drive-thru restaurant under the German Doner Kebab name.

It would transform the currently shabby and deserted building into an urban chic kebab joint equipped for all.

Glossy CGI images published by Bolton Council in support of the application show its intended transformation, reports Manchester Evening News.

The site was previously used by charities including the Mental Health Independent Support Team and Bolton NICE, which develops community and business enterprises and job opportunities.

Synergie Holdings submitted the proposal and opening hours for the venture are unknown at this stage.

Five on-site parking spots would be created at the site, according to the application.

Responding to the form, Bolton's highways department said it will need more information before giving an opinion.

It said: “Owing to the premises location in relation to the highways around the town centre of Bolton, the applicant will need to submit some form of transport statement in order to justify the proposed change of use.

“The statement should provide a rough indication as to how accessibility to the premises will be controlled and how abuse of the one-way system on Gas Street will be prevented, as well as giving a rough indication of traffic impact from the proposed use.

“In its present form there is insufficient information available within the submission for the Highway Authority to fully comment.”

The drive-thru kebab restaurant will be considered by planners in Bolton after a period of consultation with neighbours.
