SCOTLAND’S national refugee organisation is to host a ceilidh to raise funds for those seeking protection across the country – and has called for support to make this year's "another sell-out".
The Scottish Refugee Council (SRC) said it will celebrate their 40th anniversary through a night of traditional music, dancing, and food.
Comedian Mark Nelson will host the event, and music will be courtesy of The Big Stupit Ceilidh Band.
The spring ceilidh will take place at Glasgow’s Barony Hall on Saturday 5 April, from 7pm “until late”.
Fundraising manager Gary Southworth said: “Last year 200 people helped fill The Barony to eat, drink and dance in support of people seeking safety in Scotland and we need your help to make sure this year is another sell-out.
“Events like this are absolutely crucial to our organisation which, in its 40th year, is still needed now more than ever.
“The money raised from this year’s ceilidh will go directly to the future planning and delivery of our life-changing services.”
The event is an annual affair for the group, last year raising almost £10,000. Tickets are £30 each and can be purchased here.
The SRC has been supporting people seeking refuge since 1985, originally set up in response to the humanitarian crisis in Vietnam.
The ceilidh will kickstart the group’s array of 40th anniversary celebrations, the SRC said.
