Huge cannabis farm worth almost £500,000 found in Scots warehouse as cops launch probe

A huge cannabis farm with almost half a million pounds-worth of the drug has been uncovered in a warehouse in South Lanarkshire.

Cops swooped on the industrial unit on Carron Place, East Kilbride shortly before 2.30pm on Tuesday, May 31.

Officers, who were acting under warrant at the time of the bust, seized approximately 810 plants in the haul.

The cannabis cultivation had an overall estimated street value of £486,000.

Police Scotland have now launched an investigation and say enquiries into the damning find are ongoing.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have any information on drug supply in their area.

Sergeant Graham Reid, East Kilbride Police Station, said: "This was a significant recovery of controlled drugs which will not make on to the streets.

"We are committed to tackling the supply of drugs and would appeal to the public to contact police if they have any information or concerns about drug supply.

"Please call officers on 101 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
