The skies above Glasgow had another visit from a huge military plane this morning as a Canadian Royal Airforce jet flew over the city.
The plane in question was a Lockheed CC130J Hercules, which departed from Glasgow Prestwick Airport around 7:45am this morning for Tampere–Pirkkala Airport in Finland, where it landed just before 11am.
The four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft, which has a wingspan of 40m, carry up to 92 fully equipped paratroopers or 128 passengers. It is used for a wide range of missions, including troop transport, tactical airlift and aircrew training.
Flight tracking service FlightRadar24 shows the plane flew right over Queen's Park, Glasgow Green and Dennistoun after departing from Prestwick, before continuing over Stirling, Perth and Stonehaven and then out over the North Sea.

Despite passing over Glasgow at an altitude of some 25,000 feet, the 'din' of the plane could be heard clearly through a closed window by residents.
The plane is based out of Canadian Forces Base Trenton in Trenton near Toronto, some 3,000 miles away from Glasgow. The reason for the plane's presence in the skies above our city is unknown.
It comes just a day after a huge RAF Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft could be heard by residents as it performed what appeared to be various take-off and landing manoeuvres at Glasgow Airport late at night.
