Dundee’s charity sector has received a huge boost with the renewal of a major partnership.
The city’s leading representative bodies for charities, community groups and volunteers have pledged their commitment to helping those in need for the next three years.
The Dundee Third Sector Interface (Dundee TSI) is a partnership working agreement between Dundee Social Enterprise Network (DSEN) and Dundee Volunteer and Voluntary Action (DVVA).
The Dundee TSI represents charities, community groups, development trusts, social enterprises and the volunteering sector across the city.
It will continue to represent and support these organisations at a time when their services are needed more than ever.
The Third Sector in Dundee represents hundreds of organisations, thousands of employees & volunteers and has a substantive economic and social impact to the local area.
DVVA Chief Executive, Christina Cooper said: “The third sector locally played a crucial role in the emergency response, often initiating actions at a community level.
“TSIs as local supporters of third sector organisations also played crucial roles in helping to support the sector to provide a local coordinated response along with statutory partners.”
DSEN Chairperson, Derek Marshall said: “We are delighted to enter into this agreement with DVVA ensuring we act as one voice for our members.
“The third sector led through the covid pandemic, ensuring people in our communities remained connected and received the support they needed.”
While Councillor Lynne Short added: “This is a statement of partnership within our city that needs to be celebrated and honoured.
“As we move into even more uncertain times, to know that those bonds are being renewed is especially valued.”
