Huge blaze rips through former Scottish nightclub as crews race to scene

Fire crews battled a huge blaze at an abandoned nightclub in Fife.

The inferno broke out on Sunday at the former Maxwell's bar on Wellesley Road in Methil. Pictures from the scene show several fire appliances in attendance and firefighters using hoses to tackle blaze.

Flames could also be seen coming from the top of the building, with large clouds of black smoke spotted from several miles away, according to the Daily Record.

It is understood that the road was closed, with traffic being diverted via lower Methil. The old venue, also known as Rick's, was one of the town's most popular nightlife spots before its closure.
