Huge blaze at Scots farm as emergency services rush to the scene

Emergency services rushed to a fire on a Scots farm that raged into the early hours of Monday morning.

Fire crews tackled the 'well developed' blaze at Milton Farm, South Queensferry, on the A8000 after being alerted to the inferno around 11pm on Sunday evening.

Five appliances rushed to the incident as firefighters battled the flames for around five hours, making sure the area was safe before leaving after 4am.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Edinburgh Live reports the flames were spotted from miles away, with appliances from Fife and Edinburgh sent to the scene.

Photographs from the scene show a building on fire as flames and smoke billow out of the roof. Numerous fire engines and firefighters can also be seen working to tackle the raging inferno.

The B800 between Kirkliston and South Queensferry was closed during the incident and later reopened.

Local resident William Scally said the fire could be seen from the A90. He said: "Milton Farm is on Fire in Between South Queensferry and Kirkliston.

"Four fire appliances are currently in attendance from Broxburn - Sighthill - Lochgelly and Dunfermline Fire Stations. One height appliance From Dunfermline Fire Station and one water carrier from Larbert Fire Station.

"The fire is well going and the B800 is fully closed between Kirkliston and South Queensferry whilst firefighters tackle the blaze, it’s expected the road may be closed for some time."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were alerted to the incident and left shortly after 4am on Monday.

A spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.07pm on Sunday, 19 March to reports of a fire within a derelict property in South Queensferry.

"Operations Control mobilised five appliances to Milton Farm, on the A8000, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire.

"Crews worked to extinguish the fire and make the area safe before leaving the scene shortly after 4am on Monday, 20 March.

"There were no casualties."
