A huge bang was heard as two buses were involved in a crash in an incident which closed a road in Nottingham city centre. The head-on collision involving an NCT and trentbarton bus happened an Canal Street's junction with Carrington Street was reported at 5.06pm on Thursday, December 8.
The junction has been partially blocked by the crash involving the two vehicles. Canal Street has been closed in between Carrington Street and Greyfriar Gate junctions due to the crash.
Local resident at the scene voiced their concern after seeing the dramatic scene of the crash, which was cordoned off by Nottinghamshire Police. Manisha Sharma, 29, who works as a solicitor at a law firm near to the scene of the crash, said she heard a ‘loud bang’ just before 5pm.

“We heard a very loud, huge bang and we knew that it was not a normal noise. It was a massive bang. I have seen it just now and it looks awful.”
Amy Chettiar, 26, who works as a HR advisor and lives on Trent Lane, said she was concerned. “I take the bus on this route every day to get into the city. I have never seen a crash this big before," Ms Chettiar said.
“There was another in the city last week. It is shocking. It is just very unusual. So I am very concerned.”
Robert Leslie, 58, from West Bridgford, described the incident as ‘odd’. “It is normally a quiet road. I have never seen anything like this around here before," Mr Leslie said.
“It is normally just buses on this road, and then of course you’ve got the cycle paths as well.”
He added: “I just do not understand what actually happened but I am concerned now about how buses operate. It must have been frightening for the passengers. Scary.”
Traffic was slowed by the closure, with NCT Buses informing passengers of severe disruptions to services. NCT Buses, in a Twitter post at 5.44pm, said: "There is severe disruption to Navy 1, 3, 4, 48, 49; Orange 34/C and Turquoise 77, 78, 79 because of an RTC on Canal Street. More details to follow."
