Huge 80m viewing tower set up at Hucknall car boot site

A Nottingham events company has explained why a 80m tower has appeared in a town.

The reason for the large viewing tower's construction, which has been seen lit up in multiple colours at the Hucknall Car Boot Site, has been outlined by its owners.

Mellors, the Nottingham-based company behind Winter Wonderland and the Nottingham Beach in Old Market Square, said they were behind the huge viewing tower and have now explained why it had been built.

A spokesperson for Mellors Group said: "Mellors Group are currently building a 80m view tower in Nottingham for testing purposes.

"We are putting the ride up on the land at Hucknall.

"It’s not a new attraction for Nottingham City Centre we’re testing it for our project in Saudi Arabia."

Mellors Group created the biggest touring event in the world in Saudi Arabia after winning a 5-year contract in 2019.

This event has huge amusement parks moving from one city to another since the contract was won, starting from Riyadh and including various other towns - with the organiser stating that the aim of this was "introducing leisure entertainment and fun to the people of Saudi Arabia".

Mellors Group recently said their home city may be getting its own version of a new entertainment complex, first opened in Manchester, in the future.

The potential site for the attraction has not yet been revealed, but an earlier version of the plan had previously been touted to be a "fresh concept" that could bring around 100 jobs to the city.
