A luxury home in Memorial Drive has fallen just short of pushing Bar Beach into the $7 million club.
The modern beachfront home at 96 Memorial Drive sold to a local family for $6.9 million with Robinson Property's Michael Flook.
Only four Newcastle and Lake Macquarie homes - all in Merewether or Whitebridge - have topped $7 million.
The 602 square metre property attracted interest from several local families and offers 180-degree coastal views from its front balcony.

Mr Flook, who made what's understood to be a record-breaking $10.25 million sale earlier this year, said the region's top-end market was still performing strongly.
"Whilst the market is tightening life goes on - people buy and sell," he said.
"People appreciate quality top-end style properties and those properties that are priced sensibly will continue to attract relevant interest."
The sale narrowly topped the $6.85 million paid for number 92, 'Ocean View', which sold inside six days of being listed in April.

Mr Flook and Ben Robinson have since listed another prestige home in nearby Bar Beach Avenue, The Junction.
No guide has been disclosed for the four-bedder at 11A, however, the Newcastle Herald understands expectations are north of $3 million.
"It's a short walk to Bar Beach and The Junction shops ... it's perfect for those looking at quality beachside living and wanting low maintenance," Mr Flook said.
