Huddersfield Town boss makes Liverpool admission ahead of Nottingham Forest FA Cup tie

Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan has insisted that focus is fully on a "very strong opponent" in Nottingham Forest and not a potential quarter-final tie against Liverpool.

The winner of Monday night's meeting between the two Championship sides will be rewarded with a visit from Jurgen Klopp's Carabao Cup champions later this month.

Corberan's Terriers currently occupy the second and final automatic promotion place and are unbeaten since the end of November, including the reverse fixture at the City Ground late last year, winning their last four league outings.

Huddersfield will, though, prioritise treating the cup competition "with respect".

“I think we need to be thinking about the opponent we are about to face, not the next one,” Corberan told YorkshireLive, “I know how difficult a game it’s going to be playing away against a very strong opponent who are going to demand a lot from us.

"We want to give our best performance and stay in the cup; that’s the only target for Monday.”

Speaking in the aftermath of Friday’s 2-0 win over Peterborough, the coach added: “The biggest and only priority is to be competitive every time we take the pitch, we need to switch from the league to the cup, but our priority is to treat it with respect and try to stay in the cup, it’s an easy answer in terms of priorities – our only one is to try our best to win each game.”

Ahead of the meeting, Corberan has also suggested to our colleagues at YorkshireLive that changes may be made from their last outing and hinted at one switch between the sticks, with cup 'keeper Jamal Blackman to continue in that role.

“I think it’s important every game we come into we have players who are fresh and can help us,” Corberan said, “we will need to analyse which players are in the best condition.

“This is what we are going to do before we play Forest, and we will do the same before we play West Bromwich Albion – see from our group who is going to be the most competitive. If everything goes well, Blackman is going to play.”
