Huddersfield Giants' Will Pryce set for enormous ban as five players suspended

Huddersfield Giants’ Will Pryce is set to miss a minimum of eight games following his red card against Hull FC on Sunday afternoon. The youngster has been hit with a Grade F charge for a dangerous throw on Connor Wynne by the RFL's match review panel.

As such, Pryce will attend a tribunal this week where he will get the chance to have his say before a final ruling is made and a suspension is handed out. However, such a charge carries a minimum penalty notice of eight matches, according to the RFL's sentencing guidelines and Pryce now looks set to miss a huge chunk of Huddersfield’s Super League season.

The incident came in the second half of the Giants' 14-6 defeat to the Black and Whites on Sunday afternoon and referee Liam Moore wasted no time in sending the England Knights player from the field. Speaking about the incident after the game, head coach Ian Watson said: “He knows he has messed up.

“What he has got to do now is lick his wounds and see what consequences come on the back of those actions and then learn from them.”

Elsewhere in the Super League, Zane Tetevano has been hit with a two-match penalty notice for a Grade B high tackle which was deemed to be reckless. The Leeds Rhinos forward will now miss games against Castleford Tigers in the Challenge Cup and St Helens in the league.

Catalans Dragons will be without their star playmaker Mitchell Pearce for their next two games after the Australian was sanctioned for a Grade C dangerous throw, while Castleford’s Brad Martin, who was sent off at the DW Stadium on Thursday night for a high tackle, has also received a two-game ban. Warrington Wolves’ Jack Hughes will miss the weekend’s Cup clash with Wakefield after being given a one-match suspension for a late hit on the passer.
