A Black Country lighting firm has secured almost £4 million in new funding to support its international expansion.
Walsall-based Mackwell specialises in manufacturing emergency lighting systems to help people evacuate safely from buildings.
The £3.85 million funding package, comprising working capital and trade facilities from HSBC UK, will help it grow its overseas markets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America.
Mackwell, which turned 40 this year, said it would use the new funding to grow its presence in strategic territories, taking advantage of the burgeoning development in the building and construction sectors and the drive for connected emergency evacuation systems.
The business aims to further increase its overseas exporting figures from 60 to 80 per cent on the back of its new technology platform called 'Origin'.
David Ramsden, head of corporate banking for the West Midlands at HSBC UK, said: "We're delighted to be able to support another Midlands-based business as it looks to increase its exports.
"Mackwell has a strong growth plan for the expansion of its export business and HSBC UK is perfectly placed to help the business meet its ambitious targets."
