HP unveils first device with built-in AI assistant, the OmniBook X

In the rapidly evolving landscape of the modern workplace, the way in which we work has transformed significantly. From coffee shops to home desk setups, deviating between the best laptops and the best convertible devices, there’s no limitation to how or where we fulfil our roles.

At the same time, AI is rapidly emerging as an innovatory force that’s reshaping workplace expectations for productivity and creativity. One study found that 63% of organisations plan to adopt AI globally within the next three years, meaning there’s room for tech brands to develop softwares and release new products accordingly. HP is one example, empowering everyone from remote workers to freelancers to access AI in a way that benefits them.

In a bid to help keep people connected, productive and secure within this new era of AI, HP has launched its first device with Qualcomm, the HP OmniBook X. With a variety of enhanced AI features, impressive battery life and lightweight design, it’s bound to be a popular choice for anyone who works flexibly. The OmniBook demonstrates HP’s strategic vision for the future of work, helping individuals and organisations find a way to exceed performance expectations.

The OmniBook X sees the introduction of HP’s first AI assistant, HP AI Companion, designed to optimise the user experience and house AI tools locally on the device. Users will be able to receive intelligent assistance through questions, content feeds and personalised files, as well as customise the device in accordance with their needs. Not only will this help users to effectively manage workloads and schedules, but it’ll allow employees to focus on higher-level work by eliminating time-consuming tasks.

When it comes to connectivity and remote communication, the OmniBook X features a number of tools that are crucial for virtual meetings. These include Automatic Framing, an effect that automatically zooms and crop the image as you move around, and Eye Contact, a feature that compensates for eyes looking at the screen instead of the camera. There’s also Voice Focus, an effect that mutes background noises, and Background Blur. Despite everyone once working from their living room during the pandemic, working environments can now include offices, cafés and airport lounges. Tools such as these are a great way to prevent distractions and stay focused on the meeting at hand.

The OmniBook X is also the first time we’ve seen an HP device with Qualcomm Hexagon, an NPU that can run at 45TOPS and reach up to 75TOPS, as well as a Snapdragon X Elite X1 E-78 -100 processor. With a 3.4 GHz, 1-2 CPU, and a GPU/NPU reaching speeds of up to 70 TO PS, this CoPilot+ AI PC is designed to learn from its user, allowing greater time and energy to be spent on creative tasks. The enhanced processor will also help users run demanding applications smoothly, making it suitable for tasks such as data analysis, software development and graphic design.

Design wise, the OmniBook X features the longest battery life ever in an HP laptop, providing its user with up to 26 hours. This will allow individuals to work on long-haul flights or trips without having to frequently recharge, an important feature for maintaining productivity throughout the day. It also has incredibly fast charging, reaching 50% power in just 30 minutes.

Coming in a 14.4mm and less than 3 lbs, it has a sleek, durable design that allows it to be transported wherever. This is crucial for professionals who need to move between workspaces, or students who work on their studies in a variety of locations.

Despite the future of AI being an exceptionally clear vision, a lot of consumers are still mystified by the power it holds. It’s clear that HP has an aim to combat this, helping organisations and the general public to foster a positive opinion towards AI applications. The OmniBook X is designed to be an accessible device for those who aren’t familiar with AI, or are unsure about integrating AI into their work. Its integrated AI assistant, user-friendly AI tools and feasible scalability make it the ideal device to gradually discover and benefit from AI, and we’re expecting to see it become a popular choice for many.
