HP Sauce changes its iconic label for only second time in 123 year history

When it comes to iconic British cupboard essentials, HP sauce is high up the list for many people.

The famous condiment is named after the Houses of Parliament, and the label proudly shows off the historical landmark.

However bosses at Heinz have announced they are changing the packaging to reflect Big Ben's new makeover.

Back in May 2019, they added scaffolding to the picture of the Elizabeth Tower to present an honest view of the restoration work that’s been taking place.

With the scaffolding set to be removed in late March and April, HP Sauce labels will be restored to their original glory too.

The hugely popular limited edition scaffolding bottles will be now only available until stocks last - so grab one while you can!

Clara Monksfield, junior brand manager for HP Sauce said: “The Elizabeth Tower, home to Big Ben, has adorned our label for over a century, so it was only right for us to update our label back in 2019, reflecting history as it happened to the most-Instagrammed landmark in London.

“We were delighted to hear the news that the scaffolding will soon be taken down – four years after the structure was first enclosed for the restoration project. As a celebrated sauce tied with these iconic landmarks, we’ll remove the scaffolding from our bottles too and show these fantastic landmarks in all their original glory once more.

"We’ve been very pleased by the response to our special-edition bottles, so be sure to get a piece of history in the shops before they go.”

Famous London landmarks, including the Elizabeth Tower, the House of Commons and Westminster Bridge have adorned the label of the iconic HP sauce for over 100 years.

The label change in 2019 was the first ever design change to the famous bottle in 123 years and now there’s only a limited time left to secure a dollop of history.

Glass bottles of HP sauce displaying the scaffolding label will be available from all major retailers until stocks last. Grab one while you can!
