Leeds wind speed today as Storm Eunice hits

Winds of up to 90mph are set to hit England today as Storm Eunice sweeps across the country.

Leeds is covered by a yellow warning for wind, like the majority of Yorkshire.

The news comes as the Met Office has issued its second red weather warning elsewhere in the country, meaning there is a "significant danger to life."

The nation has been warned of "dangerous conditions" as it is anticipated the storm could be the worst to hit the country in 30 years.

Severe disruptions are also expected, with multiple train operators issuing "do not travel" warnings and drivers being told to "avoid travel unless essential."

Storm Eunice is expected to hit Leeds around midday, but people can expect the poor weather to continue for hours, with a strong chance of rain until 4pm and the wind warning in place until 6pm.

During the day, wind gusts of up to 60mph are forecast today.

Wind speed will begin to increase shortly before midday, according to the Met Office, with 30mph wind at 10am racing up to 45mph at 1pm then 60mph at 3pm.

Combined with a high chance of precipitation throughout the day, Leeds will feel like under 0°C from 2pm and throughout the rest of the day.
