Todd Boehly has had his first taste of the highs and lows English football already within the first 45 minutes of Chelsea's Premier League fixture against Wolves. The LA Dodgers co-owner, who had his £4billion takeover deal confirmed by the club themselves this morning, has dived straight into the deep end as he had hoped to watch Thomas Tuchel's side get back on track after recent disappointments against Manchester United and Everton.
A statement released on the Chelsea FC website read: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.
"Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account. 'In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation.

"The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time.'
As for the game itself and after a rather tepid start to proceedings at Stamford Bridge, Romain Saiss' free header woke the Blues up after they could have easily been 1-0 down early on. They soon rallied, however, and were unlucky to not gain the lead themselves as both Timo Werner and Ruben Loftus-Cheek had goals chalked for a foul and offside, respectively.
Werner's one was hard to take for the home crowd but VAR's intervention in denying Loftus-Cheek's goal - despite it initially having been adjudged to be onside - led to raucous boos from the Chelsea crowd. It had looked like the midfielder was to have scored the first goal of the Boehly era but it wasn't to be. What will remain, though, was the new owner's jubilant initial reaction to what he had saw been created from a corner.
As well as clapping, Boehly was caught doing a two-finger whistle, something that many Blues fans will hope to keep seeing in the near future as the man on everyone's lips today is expected to attend the remaining fixtures of the season - including the upcoming FA Cup final.
