Liverpool could move nine points clear at the Premier League summit when they finish an eventful 2024 with a trip to West Ham today.
The dominant Reds came from behind to brush aside struggling Leicester 3-1 at Anfield on Boxing Day, increasing their formidable title advantage to seven points after closest challengers Chelsea were stunned late at home by west London rivals Fulham earlier in the afternoon.
That gap was whittled down to six after Arsenal narrowly beat Ipswich on Friday night to jump up from fourth to second, but Liverpool have the chance to stretch it further on Sunday with Chelsea playing at Ipswich on Monday and Arsenal travelling to Brentford on New Year’s Day. Fourth-place Nottingham Forest go to Everton on Sunday.

It is a very tall order indeed to expect West Ham to become the first team to beat Arne Slot’s men in 23 matches across all competitions, though there has been an improvement of late after huge pressure on manager Julen Lopetegui.
Hard-fought draws with Bournemouth and Brighton were bookended by narrow wins over Wolves and Southampton, with the Hammers now unbeaten in four and up to 13th in the table - six points behind the top six and nine clear of the relegation zone.
