How to watch the Champions League final for free without a BT Sport subscription

Liverpool and Real Madrid will each be looking to stand on the top step of European football's podium when they meet in the UEFA Champions League final in Paris this evening.

Liverpool booked their place in their third final in five seasons earlier this month, surviving a scare against Villarreal to win their semi-final showdown 5-2 on aggregate. The Merseysiders won the first-leg 2-0 at Anfield before being tasked with coming from 2-0 down to beat the Spanish outfit 3-2 in the second-leg at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Just 24 hours later, Madrid joined Liverpool in booking their tickets for Paris, producing a staggering comeback to beat Manchester City at the Bernabeu. The La Liga giants were 1-0 down on the night and 5-3 behind on aggregate as the game entered the final minute, only for them to score twice late on and then force the contest to extra-time, in which they won 3-1 on the night, securing a 6-5 victory on aggregate.

With both clubs having recorded 19 European Cup triumphs between them in their history, it promises to be a fascinating final, both for the fans of each club and the neutral. But just how can you watch tonight's final in Paris? Below, MEN Sport has all of the details.

Is the Champions League final available on UK TV?

Yes. As has been the norm throughout this season's competition, the final will be available to watch on BT Sport, both via your TV and the BT Sport app. Although kick-off is not until 8pm, the build-up starts at 6pm and is available on BT Sport 1.

The coverage is scheduled to conclude at 11pm, but that could change if the game goes to extra-time and penalties.

Do you need a BT Sport subscription to tune in?

No. In the build-up to tonight's showpiece event, BT Sport announced that they will be streaming the final for free on their YouTube channel, meaning anyone can watch it without the need for a BT Sport subscription.

Alternatively, you can also watch the contest via btsport.com/final on web browsers. Those watching through mobiles, tablets, smart TVs, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire, PlayStation and Xbox can use a free stream on the BT Sport app.

Jamie Hindhaugh, Head of BT Sport, said: "It has been another hugely entertaining season of football across all three UEFA club competitions, highlighted by British clubs making two of the finals once again.

"We're delighted to round these European campaigns off by making the live action from all three finals available for anyone to watch for free on the BT Sport website, app or YouTube channel."

Coverage will start at 6pm on all platforms.

Who are the commentators and pundits?

BT Sport's commentary team includes Darren Fletcher, with Jake Humphrey presenting from the studio. The pundits are set to include Rio Ferdinand, Glenn Hoddle, Peter Crouch, Michael Owen and Steve McManaman. Des Kelly will take charge of the pore-match and post-match interviews pitchside.
