The final of the Champions League will be held in Paris in 2022 at the world-famous Stade de France, the French National Stadium.

The Stadium is based in the Saint-Denis district of the French Capital with this Parisian suburb soon becoming the centre of international sport’s attention - but it wasn't always going to be this way, and instead lands there as the outcome of two huge global events.

The final for the Champions League in 2022 was originally meant to be played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, however, due to Covid the previous year’s event was pushed back.

The postponement and relocation of the 2020 final had a knock-on effect that saw the 2022 final given instead to the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Then, a second once-in-a-generation event, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine saw the final move once again, finally settling in Paris.

Liverpool has already secured one of the two spots available for the 2022 Champions League final, but it still remains to be seen at the time of writing who will come out on top in the second leg clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Manchester City goes into the second stretch of the tie 3-2 up on aggregate after a breathtaking classic that saw Madrid cling on in a way only they can: scoring two goals against a side that has only conceded 21 goals in the league all season.

The second leg of Manchester City vs Real Madrid will take place on Wednesday, May 4 at 8pm on BT Sport and the BT Sport app.
