How to watch QuakeCon 2022 – and which games will be announced at the event?

For Bethesda fans, and video game fans in general QuakeCon is an event that cannot be missed.

It’s also an event that all Xbox owners will want to pay attention too, as Microsoft now owns the company following its 2021 buyout.

Bethesda Softworks is a behemoth in the video game industry, owning companies such as Elder Scrolls and Fallout developer Bethesda Game Studios, Dishonored and Prey developer Arkane Studios, DOOM’s studio id Software, Wolfenstein’s studio Machine Games, along with many others.

There are some big games expected to be shown at the event, including Arkane’s new heavy hitter Redfall.

However, there will be one major absence, Bethesda’s high anticipated RPG Starfield.

When is QuakeCon 2022?

The Elder Scrolls: Online will be at QuakeCon (Bethesda)

QuakeCon will kick off on August 18, 2022 and last until August 20.

The pre-show will start at 5.15 pm for the UK, while the main event will start streaming 6pm BST for British viewers.

The full schedule can be found on the QuakeCon website, with almost consistent shows and competitions available to watch over the three days.

Ghostwire Tokyo will feature at QuakeCon (Tango Gameworks / Bethesda)

Sadly, QuakeCon 2022 is not returning to Dallas, its home pre coronavirus pandemic.

Instead, the show will be a digital event and available for all to watch online.

All you will need is a Twitch account, with the show airing on QuakeCon’s official Twitch channel.

What will be shown at QuakeCon 2022?

Redfall is set to be the main showcase of QuakeCon (Xbox)

The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Quake are all set to be highlights at the show.

Arkane’s Redfall is expected to take centre stage though, following the news that it had been delayed until 2023.

Bethesda confirmed the disappointing update on Twitter, writing: “We’ve made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023.

“The teams at Arkane (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.”

The news of Starfield’s delay was equally disappointing for fans, but after the disastrous launch of Fallout 76, most just want a finished game to hit the shelves, not a buggy, broken mess again.

Clearly the developer is hard at work on Starfield, as they are not taking the time to show it at QuakeCon.

Gameplay was instead revealed earlier this summer, giving fans something to chew on until it finally arrives next year.
