After a stunning Olympic Games in Paris, the action starts in the French capital following what promises to be another dramatic opening ceremony.
Great Britain finished second at the delayed Tokyo Games last time out and have now been set a target of 100-140 medals by UK Sport.

TV channel: The live action can be watched free-to-air in the UK on Channel 4, which has promised more than 1,300 hours of coverage.
The broadcaster is currently showing documentaries to pave the way and will be showing the coverage on television and online.
Unlike at the Olympics, where the BBC had only limited broadcasting, Channel 4 will be showing every event with up to 18 streams accessible online.
There will also be a nightly highlights show.
