How to watch Oscars 2023 in Ireland as red carpet to be dominated by Irish stars

The Oscars take place this weekend, with a huge contingent of Irish talent travelling to LA for the awards ceremony.

Ireland has scooped a record 14 nominations, with The Banshees of Inisherin taking nine.

Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan all earned their first nominations for the film.

So too has Paul Mescal, who is going up against Farrell in the best actor shortlist, for his role in Aftersun.

The Banshees of Inisherin director Martin McDonagh has added to his growing Oscar CV with nods for best director and best original screenplay. The film is also among the bookmakers' favourites for best picture.

Meanwhile an Cailín Ciúin is up for best international feature film – the first ever Irish language movie to get a nomination.

They will all be hoping for the ‘luck of the Irish’ at the ceremony held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 12. It will be hosted by US talk show favourite Jimmy Kimmel.

After all the drama of last year's Academy Awards Ceremony, which controversially saw actor Will Smith slap host Chris Rock, many people across Ireland will be tuning in.

If you plan on watching, here's how you can view all of the drama live on Irish TV.

How to watch the Oscars in Ireland

The Oscars will air live on ABC in the US, while in Ireland Sky Cinema Oscars will host the ceremony.

It will be available to watch on Sky Cinema/Sky Showcase and on NOW TV from 1am on Sunday, March 12.

For those who don't fancy staying up to watch it live, RTE will be showing all the best moments from the ceremony the following day. Oscars 2023 airs at 9.30pm on Monday, March 13 on RTE 2.
