The Minecraft franchise has grown into an insurmountable megalith in the video games industry, evolving from a single addictive survival-crafting game into a multi-media universe with toy and accessory partnerships, gaming spin-offs, media projects like movies and TV shows, and more new ambitions we haven't seen yet from Mojang Studios. Every year, one of the best ways to see what the immediate future holds for the franchise is Minecraft Live.
Now, though, Minecraft Live is adopting a different form. Rather than an annual event that will bombard viewers with a ridiculous amount of information both aspirational and immediate, Minecraft Live will now appear twice a year. It'll be smaller, focusing on what's coming soon for Minecraft and reflecting Mojang's new approach to releasing smaller (but quicker) content updates for the long-running video game moving forward.
Here's everything you need to know about the next Minecraft Live event on Sept. 28, 2024, including how and where to watch it, and what you can expect from the show. No, there won't be a Minecraft Live Mob Vote.
What is Minecraft Live?
Minecraft Live is the modern version of the Minecon from years prior, an in-person Minecraft-themed convention that was retired thanks to the dire effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, Mojang Studios hosts livestreamed events, during which it reveals news and announcements for the next few months of Minecraft. The show has historically been a major, exciting affair for the Minecraft community, attracting a massive surge of traffic and online discussion, but will be more modest in the future.
Minecraft Live first began in 2020, and returned every year following to give players insight into what to expect from the future of the growing Minecraft universe. Considering Minecraft is one of the best Xbox games, and continues to be one of the best-selling video games of all time, there's almost always a lot to cover during Minecraft Live. It's a can't-miss event for the Minecraft community, and Windows Central always covers all the news that comes out of it.
Now, Minecraft Live is a bi-annual event and will be smaller in scale, but will be no less important for Minecraft fans wanting to stay on top of their favorite franchise.

When does Minecraft Live (Sept. 2024) air?
The next Minecraft Live will officially air on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CEST. There will be a community pre-show kicking off 30 minutes before the main event at 12:30 p.m. ET, and a developer-led after-show following the main event.
Where can I stream Minecraft Live (Sept. 2024)?

How can I earn exclusive rewards?
You can earn some exclusive rewards just for watching Minecraft Live (Sept. 2024) on both Twitch and even TikTok. There are three rewards in total.
If you subscribe to (or gift a sub for) a partnered Minecraft streamer on Twitch, you'll earn the "Terrified Emote." If you watch ten minutes of Minecraft Live on a stream with Drops enabled, you'll earn the "Mask of the Witness" Character Creator Item. Finally, you can earn the "Bog Dweller Mask" Character Creator Item for watching three minutes of Minecraft Live on a TikTok Live with Game Rewards enabled.

Minecraft Live (Sept. 2024): What to expect
Minecraft has expanded into quite the sizeable brand. Mojang Studios and its partners are constantly working on countless Minecraft projects, so Minecraft Live is often filled with surprises in addition to what we can reliably expect. The latest Minecraft Live is expected to be more modest in scope, but Mojang Studios has still teased some of what we know we'll see and more that we might. Take all of this with a grain of salt ahead of the event.
We know that the next Minecraft content update will be unveiled and detailed during Minecraft Live, although it's not clear what the theme will be for this update. We know that we're not going to see Minecraft Legends or Minecraft Dungeons, as both of those previous spin-off games are no longer in active development. We also know that there won't be a Minecraft Live Mob Vote of any kind, as Mojang Studios has shuttered the controversial event following years of fans complaining about all the awesome mobs lost to time forever.
Mojang has hinted at what we might see from the next Minecraft update, though, and it may be horror themed. All the viewer awards for tuning into Minecraft Live fit this theme, as does the end of the Minecraft Live teaser I've linked near the top of this article. This means we may be seeing a new terrifying mob and other additions sometime around Halloween, which is an exciting prospect and exactly what I'd hope to see from faster, more focused Minecraft content updates.
We also know that Mojang will talk more about the upcoming live action "A Minecraft Movie" starring Jack Black and Jason Mamoa, which just revealed its first trailer. Whether this will mean a second trailer or just a deeper dive into what we've already seen remains unclear. Beyond that, it's up in the air what surprises Mojang Studios may have in store during the Minecraft Live in Sept. 2024. You'll have to tune in alongside the rest of us to find out (or keep an eye on Windows Central, as I'll be covering it all).
