How to watch Man City vs Chelsea - TV channel, live stream details and early team news

Manchester City take on Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night as Pep Guardiola's side start their Carabao Cup campaign with a tricky third round match.

If City want to win this season's League Cup, they will have to find a way past Chelsea in order to do so. Guardiola has lifted the trophy four times since his first win came during the 2017/18 season, as the Spaniard has shown just how much he values the competition.

The City manager would no doubt much rather have come up against a so-called 'weaker' side than the West London club in order to allow him to rotate as much as possible before this weekend's Brentford clash. Yet, as cliche as it may sound, you have to beat the best eventually if you want to win the tournament.

Chelsea, however, have been far from their best this season. They have made an indifferent start to life under Graham Potter, as they currently sit seventh in the table, 13 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal who they lost their last Premier League outing against at Stamford Bridge.

Here's all you need to know ahead of the game on Wednesday evening.

What TV channel is Man City vs Chelsea on?

You can watch the match on Sky Sports Main Event. Coverage of the game will begin at 7pm, with the game kicking off at 8pm on Wednesday, November 9. Sky Sports customers will be able to live stream the match on Sky Go.

Early team news

City will be without Kyle Walker for the clash with Chelsea after Guardiola confirmed during his pre-match press conference that the full-back is still out injured. Following his last-minute heroics against Fulham, Erling Haaland looks set to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the third round tie, as Guardiola weighs up whether or not to involve the Norwegian and potentially risk aggravating his injury.

There is good news for Kalvin Phillips, as Guardiola confirmed that the former Leeds man will be included in the matchday squad after his spell on the sidelines, but the Spaniard remained tight-lipped as to whether or not the midfielder will feature against Chelsea.
