This year's Glastonbury festival is now in full swing after organiser Emily Eavis opened the gates to the festival site on Wednesday, with artists playing across the Worth Farm site now and right the way through the weekend.

Friday's Pyramid Stage headliner is Dua Lipa, Coldplay will close out things on Saturday while SZA will bring the curtain down on the festival on Sunday evening.

If, like me, you weren't lucky enough to score a ticket - and with Glastonbury 2024 selling out in record time, I'm sure I'm not alone - there’s no need to panic as you can watch live coverage and selected sets from a wide variety of artists right now and through the whole weekend. This guide will show you how to watch Glastonbury, wherever you are, and whether you're watching on the TV, streaming or listening on the radio.

How to watch Glastonbury 2024 in the UK

The BBC has become the main channel for all things Glastonbury over the years - and 2024 is no different. And, although the main event is running until June 30, the network began their coverage of the Worthy Farm event earlier this month and it will be extended though July 14. As if that wasn't enough, the BBC also announced the creation of the brand new Glastonbury Channel II for 2024.

BBC director of music Lorna Clarke explained: “The BBC’s coverage of Glastonbury is one of the biggest jewels in the BBC’s pop crown and we’re evolving our programming to bring audiences many ways to enjoy the festival across our platforms – it’s their Glastonbury on the BBC.

“This year will see the debut of Glastonbury Channel II, a welcome addition to our multiple BBC iPlayer streams, giving viewers a rolling round-up of the key moments from each day.

“We’re also proud that for the second year, Pyramid Stage – Signed returns, with performances from Glastonbury’s most iconic stage in British Sign Language, bringing the Glastonbury experience closer to all viewers."

Clarke added: “This is in addition to over 90 hours of live performances from the five main stages on BBC iPlayer, extensive coverage on TV, 90 hours of radio broadcasts live from the festival, plus much more to discover on BBC Sounds – including Sidetracked By Glastonbury, presented by Annie Macmanus and Nick Grimshaw, which will also be available on BBC iPlayer from the first week of June.

“I would like to thank Emily and Michael Eavis once again for allowing us this exclusive access to Glastonbury, as only the BBC can bring the nation together to enjoy their unique festival.”

If you're based in the UK, you'll be able to access all this content through the BBC iPlayer, while audio coverage will also be available via the BBC Sounds app.

If that's not enough, the BBC Music YouTube channel has a great playlist of key performances from last year's festival and more.

Special global livestreams

With just days to go before the festival got underway, organisers announced that both Dua Lipa and Coldplay’s headline sets would be streamed around the world.

Produced by BBC Studios, Dua Lipa will hit the stage on Friday from 5-6.45pm EST (11pm-12.45am CEST), while Coldplay’s performance on June 29 will be broadcast from 4.45-6.45pm EST (10.45pm-12.45am CEST) on BBC.com.

Chief commercial officer at BBC Studios Tara Maitra said: “The Glastonbury festival is an icon of British culture, and this livestream will give fans around the globe a front row seat to headline performances like never before. This is just the latest example of our focus on bringing more cultural-defining moments like Glastonbury to fans on our platforms outside the UK so users can experience the best of British culture wherever they may be.”

BBC director of music Lorna Clarke added: “At the BBC, we bring Glastonbury to you, and we’re incredibly proud of our coverage. It enables millions of people to access the magic of Emily and Michael Eavis’ festival each year.

"The global streams of Dua Lipa and Coldplay’s performances are another exciting addition to our offer, allowing us not only to unite music fans across the country, but across the world with the opportunity to experience these world class performances as they happen."

How to listen to Glastonbury 2024

BBC Radio 6 is dedicated to all things Glastonbury 2024 and it's available through the BBC Sounds app, with a rolling series of shows right across the weekend. Not only are they the channel for live streams, but there are also Glastonbury-themed picks and interviews.

Glastonbury have also teamed up with Spotify to release Vodafone’s official Glastonbury app on iOS and Android. This features Worthy FM - the official Glasto radio channel which has interviews with artists taking part at this year's event and much more.

Glastonbury 2024: Where to start

While Glastonbury is rarely a festival for heavier guitar bands, if your tastes are eclectic you'll find plenty to enjoy across the weekend.

Headliners Coldplay are still great value, particularly when they bust out hits from their first three albums. Avril Lavigne will be bringing early-2000s pop-punk vibes to the Other Stage, some of the Louder team are excited to catch The Streets revive their alt-UK hip-hop for a geed up crowd when they hit the Other Stage.

The vast majority of the stages, artists and times have now been confirmed on the official Glastonbury website, there's going to be plenty to dive into.

I'm particularly keen to see New Model Army, Billy Nomates, PJ Harvey, Idles, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Snuts, The Last Dinner Party, The National, James, Heilung, Corinne Bailey Rae, Sleaford Mods, Kim Gordon, Orbital, The Breeders, Otoboke Beaver, Johnny Flynn, The Go! Team and Pillow Queens.

Thankfully, the BBC will be covering loads of action so you should be able to pick and choose from a selection of live and recorded sets to watch at your leisure. It's also fun just to jump into live stream to see what's happening - and I've discovered new artists by doing this in the past.

Who's this year's secret band?

Glastonbury organisers love to tease us with a surprise set or two, with rumours currently swirling about the gap in the Woodsies Stage line-up between 6-7pm on Saturday night. Last year's slot was advertised with the mysteriously-named The Churnups - who of course, turned out to be Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl and co. played an hour-long set and kept the rock levels up.

The big name rumoured to be filling the gap in the schedule this year are Kasabian, which would make sense considering their new album Happenings will be released next Friday and they'll also be heading out on their UK tour on July 3. Still, we'll just have to wait and see.

Official Glastonbury playlists

While Glastonbury and Spotify teamed up for Vodafone’s official Glastonbury app, they’ve also come up with a range of playlists for the festival’s main stages

The 40-track Pyramid Stage playlist has artists including PJ Harvey, Little Sims, Coldplay, Keane, Seasick Steve and Squeeze, while the 46-song Other Stage playlist features the likes of Idles, The National, Avril Lavigne, Bombay Bicycle Club, Nothing But Thieves, James and The Snuts.

The West Holts playlist has a total of 24 songs by artists including Corinne Bailey Rae, Nitin Sawhney and Heilung and the 51-track Park Stage collection has Fontaines DC, Orbital, The Breeders, Lankum, Otoboke Beaver and Johnny Flynn.

Lastly, the Woodsies 50-song compilation has Sleaford Mods, Kim Gordon, Arlo Parks, The Vaccines and Soccer Mommy.

It’s a great way to discover some artists who may not be on your radar ahead of the big festival weekend.

Glastonbury weather forecast

The Met Office's forecast indicates that it should stay dry and warm throughout Friday, while it should get up to 21 degrees on Saturday - although the cloudy conditions could bring some rain. Finally, Sunday is another sunny day with cloud cover with highs of 20 degrees.

All in all, that’s not too bad at all.

How to rewatch Glastonbury 2023

Glastonbury 2023 came to a triumphant end late on the Sunday evening of last year's festival with an epic, hit-strewn set for the ages from Elton John - widely believed to be his last on UK soil, but with so much going on across the Worthy Farm site, it was pretty hard to see everything the festival had to offer.

Luckily the BBC iPlayer has archived dozens of live performances that’ are still available to watch for a limited time, so if you were there and want to relive full sets, explore new artists or just want to have a mix of things to watch over the weeks to come, you can do just that.
