The 2022 NFL London series continues with a clash between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon.
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers finally coming across the Atlantic means all 32 teams will now have competed in the International Series, which started back in 2007.
And this afternoon’s game will also see two teams with winning records pit their wits in London for the first time, which is remarkable when you consider this is the 32nd game to take place in the capital.
The Giants are yet to totally convince under new head coach Brian Daboll, but with star running back Saquon Barkley back in top form they have battled their way to to 3-1, opening with wins over the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers before bouncing back from defeat by the rival Dallas Cowboys by squeezing past the Chicago Bears despite injuries to quarterbacks Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor leading to Barkley taking snaps in the wildcat formation.
Jones is expected to play today after being taken off the injury report following an ankle issue, but his receiving corps remain depleted with the likes of Wan'Dale Robinson, Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney all out.
The Packers are also 3-1 despite not really shining yet, dispatching the Bears, Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a New England Patriots side marshalled by third-string rookie Bailey Zappe after an opening weekend schooling by the Minnesota Vikings.
Green Bay are a run-first offensive unit with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon in a two-headed backfield, though Rodgers is slowly building chemistry with a star-less receiving lineup that includes Allen Lazard, veteran Randall Cobb and rookies Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson, having traded the irreplacable Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders back in March.
