The Washington Commanders (2-3) return to action Sunday with a critical road game in Atlanta against the Falcons (3-2). Washington had some extra rest after the previous Thursday’s 40-20 loss to the Chicago Bears — their third in a row.
The Falcons, who, like the Commanders, began the season 2-0, lost two in a row before rebounding with a last-second win over the Houston Texans last week.
These franchises have met in each of the last two seasons, with Washington winning both meetings. The quarterback for the Commanders in those two games was Taylor Heinicke — now Atlanta’s backup quarterback behind Desmond Ridder.
