How to watch BBC Three on Virgin, Sky and Freeview when it returns

BBC will return as a broadcast channel on Tuesday (February 1), six years after it went online only.

The channel of Fleabag, This Country and RuPaul’s Drag Race begins at 7pm tomorrow with a special launch show.

It has meant TV providers have had to find room for the returning channel and the number you have to type into your remote control will depend on which provider you get your TV shows from, and where you live.

Below, we look at where you will be able to find BBC Three

Freeview on channel 23 in SD and 109 HD

BT on 23 in SD and 109 HD

Virgin Media 107

Sky 117 (173 in London, 141 in Scotland)

Sky Glass 118 in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and 119 in Wales

BBC Three is targeted at a younger audience and it will have a sport focus, hosting live football this week with both semi-finals and the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) live on free-to-air television.

Fiona Campbell, BBC Three controller, says: "This is a big moment, with the new channel providing a destination for young audiences to discover more content on the BBC."

She added: "We know how popular sport is with younger audiences and it’s going to have a big part to play on BBC Three. AFCON is set to be an incredibly exciting tournament with some of the best players in the World on show and it's brilliant news that we will be showing the climax of the competition on free to air television.”
