Both sides are top of their respective leagues and chasing a potential double as they are both serious contenders to claim European glory. The Bundesliga leaders may have required a play-off to remain in the competition but produced an eye-catching result against rivals Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16, winning 5-0 over two legs.

Meanwhile, Inter’s progress throughout the tournament has been somewhat understated. Conceding just once in the league phase - finishing two points behind Liverpool - before overcoming Feyenoord 4-1 on aggregate to set up a mouth-watering quarter-final tie.
Tonight’s first-leg will be held at the Allianz Arena, before the San Siro stages the return fixture next Wednesday. The winners will meet either Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund in the semi-final.
Bayern have a mounting injury list and will be without Jamal Musiala whilst Yann Sommer and Benjamin Pavard are likely to start for Inter against their former club.
