Arsenal have been impressive in the Champions League so far, finishing third in the new-look league phase and having secured impressive wins over Paris Saint-Germain and Sporting.
They then thrashed PSV Eindhoven in the last 16 when they followed up an emphatic 7-1 win away with a 2-2 draw at home to win 9-3 on aggregate.
Real Madrid failed to convince in the league phase but have overcome Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in the knockout stage and have a formidable history in the Champions League.
This is only the second ever meeting between the two clubs and the first since 2006, when Arsenal emerged victorious 1-0 on aggregate en route to their only Champions League final.
The winners will advance to the semi-finals to face either Paris Saint-Germain or Aston Villa.
