Apple could launch its most powerful laptop ever at a surprise event on the cusp of Halloween.
Just weeks after it released the iPhone 15, the company is expected to shift the focus to its Mac laptops and computers this time around.
In the spirit of spooky season, Apple is calling it the “Scary Fast” event, which could also be a nod to the high-speed hardware it has in store.
As usual, you’ll be able to watch along live as Apple reveals its brand new products. Here’s what you can expect to see during the showcase, and how to tune in to the action.
What will Apple release in October 2023?
Although Apple hasn’t confirmed what’s on the menu, a bunch of clues and reports point to new Macs.
Firstly, the Scary Fast event logo on Apple’s website transforms into a spooky version of the Finder icon found on the company’s laptops and desktop computers.
Aside from Apple’s own hint, two reputable sources have indicated that Apple is poised to reveal new Macs this year.
MacBook Pro M3
As part of his ongoing reporting on Apple’s tech, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said he expects Apple to unveil 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the latest M3 chip.
The machines will feature up to 16-core CPU and up to 40-core GPU options, making them Apple’s most powerful laptops to date.
Meanwhile, Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo suggests the new MacBook Pro range will pack different versions of the new chip, including M3 Max and M3 Pro models aimed at professional users.
24-inch iMac
In addition, we could see a new 24-inch iMac more than two years after the model debuted in Spring 2021, according to Gurman. The older machine is the only Mac that still uses the since phased out M1 chip, so it makes sense for it to make the jump to Apple’s new silicon.
As Gurman points out, the current versions of all three products (the two MacBook Pros and the iMac) are scarce on Apple’s online store.
How to watch Apple’s Scary Fast October event
Apple always puts on a grand show when unveiling new products. And though Scary Fast isn’t an in-person event, it should still be a must-watch for Apple fans keen to learn about its new computers.
The only problem for Brits is that the showcase may be past most viewers’ bedtimes: Apple is kicking things off at a frighteningly late 11.59pm on October 30 in the UK. If you’re still awake, you can tune in to a livestream on Apple’s website, the Apple TV app, or via the YouTube link above.
