How To Unlock The ‘Predator’ Secret Skin In ‘Fortnite’

We should have known that a hunter themed season would feature The Predator in some way, particularly since Fortnite is quickly become the most licensed character-stacked property in the world this side of Funko Pops. The Predator makes his strange little arrival in the game through mysterious means, similar to how we only saw the signs of Wolverine’s arrival throughout all of last season before he actually showed up. But we’ll be able to unlock the skin soon, hopefully.

Today there are three challenges to complete: to find the Predator’s crashed pod, to talk to Beef Boss, Remedy and Dummy, and to pick up some medkits, possibly preparing for some sort of climactic confrontation like we had with Wolverine. These don’t appear to be the sum of the challenges, however, so we’ll probably hang on for one or two more weeks in order to actually unlock the thing.

I’m excited to see how the secret challenge dovetails with the somewhat more narrative approach to challenges that we’ve seen so far this season. That was sort of implied with Wolverine, who we watched wreak havoc all over the island before finally appearing in Weeping Woods, but the addition of NPCs and dialog gives us a lot more options here. Maybe we’ll even get a friend or two to help us take out Predator when the time comes? That would be an excellent way to up the drama.

Regardless, it’s nice that the secret skin is sort of a secret for the first time in a long time, as opposed to dropping as a marquee skin at the beginning of the season like we had with Deadpool, Aquaman and, to a lesser degree, Wolverine.

So keep an eye on this space in the days to come. My guess is that this whole challenge chain is going to be about hunting down the Predator and preparing to fight back, assembling allies along the way and hopefully using them to take him down when the final fight comes before donning his mantle ourselves. A fun thing, and a great way to integrate the hunters into what’s been an excellent season from a narrative perspective so far.
