Fortnite's Summer Escape has a litany of challenges to net players a hefty amount of XP. One of the quests in question involves channelling your inner Doctor Doolittle and becoming a friend to the wild animals of Fortnite.
Fortnite Summer Escape recently launched with Fortnite update 25.11 and has players celebrate the summer with a batch of sunshine-fuelled quests to get you in the mood to be too warm to sleep every night! Players have been tasked with the likes of eating ice cream or hanging out around a campfire to net some easy XP to finish off the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Battle Pass.
One of the challenger included in the 'Lagoon Party Time' questline includes giving the certified good boys on the Fortnite map a little pat. While that sounds fairly simple, it can get a bit tricky, so we've built a handy guide for you to easily net a generous 30k XP
Where to find wildlife in Fortnite
Wildlife can be found all around the map. The best spots to find boar and wolves are in the wooded areas – and the area between Breakwater Bay and Shattered Slabs is usually a pretty good bet.
If you have no luck finding anything there, then a trip to the snowy regions of the map may be the next best thing, as stray wolves have been known to turn up in those areas.
How to tame a boar or wolf in Fortnite
Taming a boar or wolf is as simple as jumping on them, which – despite how straightforward it sounds – can be a pain to get done. A good way to pull this off is to find a piece of meat, which will distract the animal as they go in for a munch, leaving them open for you to jump on top of them.
How to pet a tamed boar or wolf in Fortnite
This is the easy bit; all you'll need to do is jump on the animal in question and press the emote button while riding them. The default emote button for each platform is as follows:
- PC – B
- Xbox – down on dpad
PlayStation – down on dpad
Nintendo Switch – down on dpad
Once you've done that, your character should pet the animal in question and you're one step closer to 30k XP. Note that the challenge is to do this in two matches, so you'll need to play another match to complete the quest.
While you're on your mount it may be worth making your way over to Sunswoon Lagoon (which is just to the north of Rumble Ruins and to the west of Creeky Compound) as doing that will net you another batch of XP to help you finish off the battle pass before Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 starts.
