It can be hard to keep track of all the different types of jeans out there. Not to mention which ones are currently in style. There's low-rise, high-rise, straight, skinny, mom, bootcut and baggy. Plus all of the combinations. Flare jeans are what's hot right now despite the cold temps, but they can be tricky to pull off no matter the weather. Leave it to street stylists, however, to properly demonstrate how to style flare jeans in every season.

Even though flare jeans is its own distinct category, there's still lots of variety. Especially when it comes to width. Pairs can feature just a hint or approach bell-bottom status. You can also choose between cropped and cuffed. Double denim works really well in this instance. That's because the flare helps stabilize the usually boxy jean jackets. Most often affiliated with the 70s, they're also great for rocking the moto boho trend. Or channel your inner Chloë Sevigny, Sienna Miller or Alexa Chung by tucking a plush jacket with a contrasting collar and cuffs into belted flare jeans (see above). Select accessories to pay homage to the contrast.

Dark denim is always in season, but in winter it really shines. Combine an indigo jean jacket with coordinating jeans and a black blouse. Cool kicks and a newsboy-style hat round things out nicely.

Yes, you can wear cropped flare jeans all year long. Simply style your go-to pair with a strapless top and a dark wool coat. Make sure you wrap up the look with black boots that go up past your ankles.

Flare jeans can also feature rolled cuffs. (If you can't find a pre-rolled pair, just do it manually.) Work in a denim jacket in a similar shade, a colorful headscarf, a stark bag and white heels to complete the outfit.

If you prefer a more brilliant blue, make sure to complement the hue with your shirt. On the opposite end of the sartorial spectrum, make sure to opt for neon orange pumps.

Balance out low-rise flare jeans featuring frayed hems with a cropped tee with an interesting hem all its own. Style with a neutral bag and footwear to polish things off.

Keep things boho by topping off medium-wide flare jeans with a semi-sheer lacy blouse. A layered gold necklace and a black bag punctuate the ensemble perfectly.

We've said it before and we'll say it again, acid-wash denim is your friend not foe. Team your flared pair with a shredded tie-dye top, a trucker cap and leather boots.

Go to extremes by styling two-tone jeans boasting extremely wide legs with a formfitting, short-sleeve turtleneck and white sneakers.

A colorful graphic top plays well with a medium-wash, barely-flared pair of jeans. Try to match your pumps to the top.

You'll still be able to rock that sheer embellished dress after New Year's Eve. Make it daytime-appropriate by layering it over a black shirt and slightly flared jeans that hit at the ankles. If you have the funds, definitely go for this Loewe pair. Finish off the outfit with a black jacket or cardigan, black boots and statement sunglasses.

There's something simultaneously 70s and modern about this look. Pair slouchy flared jeans with a cropped top and a fuzzy coat for an Almost Famous vibe. Keep the rest of your ensemble understated.

Keep it simple by combining dark-wash flare jeans with two crop tops and a brown leather jacket. The cropped tops allow you to flaunt your favorite brown belt and then finish things off with deep brown shoes.
