The Resident Evil 4 remake is finally here, plunging gamers once again into a world of survival horror. A reimagined and rebuilt version of the fourth chapter in the hit franchise, the video game puts players back in the shoes of Leon Kennedy.
The former rookie cop is tasked with rescuing the president’s daughter from a remote European village teeming with violent locals and eerie cultists. As is the norm with all games in the series, Resident Evil 4 is chock full of tricky puzzles and challenges that can leave even the most hardened veterans scratching their heads.
In this latest edition, one puzzle must be solved by Ashley herself. After making their way through the castle in Chapter 9, roles are reversed when Leon gets trapped in a cage and it is up to the young damsel in distress to set him free.

This section of the game sees Ashley continue through the darkened halls of the castle alone while largely relying on stealth and puzzle solving. One such puzzle is found on the Grandfather Clock, which must be solved to progress the story.
But the solution to this puzzle isn’t immediately obvious, and requires some further exploration unless you know what to do first. So here, we explain how to solve the Grandfather Clock puzzle in the Resident Evil 4 remake.
How to solve the Grandfather Clock puzzle in Resident Evil 4 remake
The Grandfather Clock is blocking the path down into the castle’s Mausoleum, where Ashley must explore to rescue Leon. To access this area, players must interact with the clock and set it to a specific time.

The solution to this puzzle can be found via the library, through a door to the left of the clock. After reaching this new room, Ashley can place a lantern on a pedastal that reveals a crank that can be turned to lower a hidden staircase.
Heading up these stairs, players will find the Bunch of Keys which can be used to open several locked chests as well as the elevator at the opposite end of the room. Players gunning for 100 percent completion should note that treasures in this section can only be collected with Ashley, because the Bunch of Keys does not carry over when play returns to Leon.
With the keys in hand, Ashley can now unlock the gate to the elevator, but two Armaduras will spawn as she moves forward. Luckily, these enemies are slow and easy to get past, and they can be temporarily frozen by shining the lantern at them.
After reaching the elevator and taking it to the floor above, players should head left behind some bookcases where they will find the Hastily Written Note displaying the solution to the Grandfather Clock puzzle. The time written on the note, and therefore the time at which the clock must be set, depends on which difficulty the game is being played.
Those playing on the Assisted or Standard difficulty settings must set the clock to 11.04, while those playing on Hardcore or Professional should set the time to 7.00. Players can skip the need to explore the library simply by entering the correct time upon first reaching the clock, but they should remember that the several locked chests in Ashley’s section cannot be opened without the Bunch of Keys from the library.
