Epic Games, which produces one of the world's most popular games, Fortnite, has many prominent games under its belt.
Now, to celebrate the new year, Epic Games has made several games available to download free of charge — alongside its annual holiday sale.
As is typical when game production companies offer free games, such as via Xbox's Games Pass, Epic Games' free offerings are available for only 24 hours — so you'll need to move quickly to secure them.
Two of the first free games have already timed out — but one is still available. Read on to find out more about the free game and how to download it.
Full list of free games from Epic Games
Here's a rundown of every single free game released by Epic Games in January 2024 — but only one (in bold) is still available to pick up:
- Escape Academy (January 1 - January 2)
- 20 Minutes Till Dawn (January 2 - January 3)
- A Plague Tale: Innocence (January 3 - January 4)
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a grim action-adventure game about Amicia de Rune and her brother Hugo as they try to survive encounters with deadly soldiers and massive swarms of vicious rats.
“Follow the grim tale of young Amicia and her little brother Hugo, in a heartrending journey through the darkest hours of history,” reads its description. “Hunted by Inquisition soldiers and surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats, Amicia and Hugo will come to know and trust each other.
"As they struggle to survive against overwhelming odds, they will fight to find purpose in this brutal, unforgiving world.”
How to download A Plague Tale: Innocence for free today
To download it free of charge, simply head to the Epic Games Store, make sure you're signed in, and download it as usual.
Even if you miss out on the free download, A Plague Tale: Requiem is on sale on the Epic Games Store for only £19.79, down from its usual asking price of £43.99.
The Epic Games Store Holiday Sale continues until January 10, so you have until then to pick up the game at a discount.
