As we look towards the New Year and one holiday period draws to a close, many of us may be looking ahead to our holidays in 2023.
And in Northern Ireland, you can even maximise your annual leave to give you a lot more time off.
Due to how the bank holidays fall in the upcoming year, if you're strategic with booking your holidays, you could get 61 days off.

Your ability to use this hack will of course depend on where and when you work, but some people who work normal Monday-Friday 9-5 jobs may be able to take advantage of it.
Here's how it works:
March
If you book these dates off, you should be able to enjoy seven days off this month thanks to the St Patrick's Day bank holiday:
- Monday, March 13
- Tuesday, March 14
- Wednesday, March 15
- Thursday, March 16
April
If you book these dates off, you should be able to enjoy 10 days off this month as you'll take advantage of the bank holidays on April 7 (Good Friday) and April 10 (Easter Monday).

- Wednesday, April 5
- Thursday, April 6
May
By taking holiday on these four dates, you could get nine days off - as you'll take advantage of the Early May Bank Holiday (May 1) and the Coronation Bank Holiday (May 8).

- Friday, May 5
End of May/early June
Due to the Spring Bank Holiday (May 29), you'll get nine days off if you book these four days of annual leave.

July
You should be able to get seven days off this month by booking off these four days, due to the 12th July bank holiday.

End of August/early September
The 2023 August Bank Holiday falls on Monday, August 28, so you'll get nine days off if you book these four days of annual leave.

December
There are two Bank Holidays in December, which are Monday, December 25 (Christmas Day) and Tuesday, December 26 (Boxing Day).
By booking these three days off, you can enjoy 10 days of holiday.
