A NUMBER of counterprotests have been organised after a “pro-UK” rally was announced in Glasgow.
Tommy Robinson was among the far-right figures promoting the Unionist demonstration in Scotland’s largest city on September 7 amid a wave of unrest in England following racist misinformation about stabbings in Southport.
The rally was rescheduled in order to coordinate with other demonstrations across the UK. It will take place in George Square from 1pm.
A series of counterprotests have been organised in response to the rally, in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The anti-racism group has organised a counterprotest in response to the “pro-UK” rally taking place in Glasgow’s George Square.

The counterprotest will take place in George Square from 12pm.
The group called on people to join “anti-racists, trade unionists, faith organisations, refugee groups and many more” in solidarity.
All Under One Banner
The pro-independence group was already organising a rally in Edinburgh on September 7, but this has now been repurposed to show the “large, vibrant, all inclusive Scottish display of excellence in Edinburgh”.
The rally will set off from Holyrood Park at 12.30pm.

It will go from there to Queens Drive, Horse Wynd, Canongate, High Street, Lawnmarket, George IV Bridge, Forrest Road, Middle Meadow Walk, before ending at The Meadows.
