How to get marble in Lego Fortnite

If you want to upgrade your village and pretty much everything else in Epic’s new blocky builder, you’ll need plenty of the Lego Fortnite marble material. Marble is one of the more challenging building materials to find, since, unlike granite – and marble’s real-life counterpart – you can’t actually just hew it out of the rocks. You have to hunt down specific locations in one of Lego Fortnite’s open-world biomes. On the bright side, it’s a pretty easy biome to find, since you almost always start there.

Our Lego Fortnite marble guide points out where to look and how to get more of the good stuff than you’ll probably ever need.

Where to find marble in Lego Fortnite

You’ll find marble in Grassland caves. Caves are separate areas that you enter from the open world, and while they spawn seemingly at random, Lego Fortnite makes them stand out pretty distinctly. Large rock formations denote a cave entrance, like the one shown above, and the actual entrance is a large hole, which is also pretty difficult to miss.

The rocks with marble are slightly lighter than the average rock you find in the overworld, though how many of them appear in a given cave seems to be random. You may need to hunt down several caves before you walk away with what you want.

There is a slight catch to all this, though, at least early on.

Before tracking down marble locations, make sure to upgrade your crafting bench. Since marble is a higher-tier material, you can’t harvest it with your standard, starter-level pickaxe. You need the Uncommon Pickaxe for marble, and crafting that requires the first crafting bench upgrade.

The only thing you need for that is a set of planks and three shells. Planks come from the lumber mill, which you unlock shortly after starting, and you can get shells from the giant, deadly crabs that roam around the Shore biome. You can usually find the Shore by heading in the opposite direction from the frozen mountains in a world spawned without using special seeds.

With your crafting bench upgraded, you need three Knotroot Rods and three Bones to upgrade your pickaxe to an Uncommon Picaxe.

If you need a break from exploration, Epic launched a Fortnite racing mode that brings together the best of Rocket League and Mario Kart.
