If you love your morning Starbucks fix, bag a Starbucks limited edition reusable cup for free and cut the cost of future coffees. Here’s how to claim the freebie.
With food inflation at a record high, buying a cup of coffee on the go is pricey, so you might want to know how to get freebies from the likes of Starbucks and Costa.
According to the World Coffee Portal data, a latte now costs £3.25 on average, 33p more than it did last year, meaning an 11.3% rise in price.
The free Starbucks reusable cup is on offer for a limited time only, helping you cut the cost of future coffee purchases and help the environment.
Here’s everything you need to know about claiming the perk.
How to claim your free reusable Starbucks cup
To claim your free Starbucks reusable cup, you need to go into a Starbucks on 20 April or 21 April and purchase a grande-sized iced drink (this does not include Frappuccinos). Note, the reusable cup is for cold drinks, so this is one for you if you love your iced coffees.
You also have to be a Starbucks Rewards Member to claim the free cup. It’s free to join, all you need to do is download the Starbucks app and create an account.
When you come to pay at the till, scan the Starbucks app and you will get your free cup with your iced drink in it.
The offer is available across 1,066 Starbucks stores and drive-thrus. Click and collect is also acceptable. But it’s only while stocks last, so if you want one get yours early. You can use the Starbucks store finder to locate your nearest coffee branch.
A grande iced drink typically costs between £3.50 and £4 depending on what you go for and your location. The cheapest iced drink on the Starbucks menu is an Iced Caffe Americano at £3.50 or a more popular choice, the Iced Caffe Latte, costs £3.85.
Money off future drinks
The good news is that every time you take your reusable cup into Starbucks for an iced drink, you get 25p off your purchase. So, if you’re a regular Starbucks customer, you could save quite a bit.
For example, if you buy a drink from Starbucks once a week with your reusable cup, you will save £1 per month. If you purchase twice a week, you will save £2 over a month, and so on.
If you pay £3.50 for your iced drink, it will take 14 Starbucks drinks in your reusable cup to cover the cost of your initial purchase.
What benefits does a Starbucks Rewards member get?
Once you’ve signed up to become a Starbucks Reward member, you can get money off your coffee with the reward scheme.
For every £1 you spend you collect three stars. You then get a reward once you reach a certain number of stars:
- 150 stars gives you a free drink
- 450 stars means you have reached their “gold level”. This means you get extra shots of espresso, whipped cream and selected syrups for free. Plus a free drink on your birthday.
The average Starbucks drink costs around £3, so that’s already nine stars with one purchase.
Once you’ve signed up for the Starbucks app, don’t forget to scan it every time you purchase a drink at Starbucks, whether it’s a hot or iced one.
